Currently
on the Kentucky Historical
Register, the timeless
charm of this historical
home is still
breathtaking. Located on
Main Street in the heart
of historic Horse Cave,
this antiquated estate of
grandeur has endless
possibilities.
Originally built as a
family residence, it was
later used as Pappy Joe
Martin’s Boarding House
and later as the Towns
House Boarding House owned
by Elizabeth Towns and now
once again as a family
residence.
Beautiful in design, this
2 story frame home with
its 2 story rear wing
boasts a 5 bay front with
four foot windows all
around, an upstairs
balcony terrace, and a
large country front porch.
The windows on the facade
and the central door have
double round headed top
sashes for architectural
design. The lower level
has four outside entrances
and the upper level has
two outside entrances.
Features include an old
fashioned cellar, an
outside shed, and a fenced
backyard.
This home features 4300
+/- square feet with 19
rooms. Currently used as a
private residence, the
lower floor has a foyer,
setting parlor, 2 formal
living rooms, great room,
large country kitchen, 2
bedrooms, utility room,
bathroom, and a
screened-in porch. The
upper level has 7
bedrooms, sitting parlor,
bath, and a balcony
terrace. The home was
originally built with 6
fireplaces.
The possible uses for this
beautiful home are endless
- a bed and breakfast,
office space, day care,
large family home with
mother-in-law quarters,
teen suites, or apartment
rental.
